On Saturday April 27, 2013, the White Correspondent’s held
it’s correspondents dinner. It was a
festive event where the liberal mainstream media took their pot shots at
conservatives such as Rush Limbaugh. (1) Some would say that
the media was exercising their free press right but we must ask ourselves if this
was the original intent of the founders that added the first amendment to the
Constitution.
The founders of this country had just fought and won an ugly
war to gain their independence from the British Crown. In establishing a new government, the
founders wanted to insure another oppressive tyranny did not result. Their intent in the first amendment was that
people and the press be able to speak freely against their government, and that
individuals would be free to establish and practice their religion. There is much talk these days about a
separation of church and state but what about a separation of media and
state.
Writing for Breitbart.com, Ben Shapiro put it well when he
said that while President Obama was lobbing “verbal hand grenades at
Republicans, Sheldon Adelson, Fox News, and Rush Limbaugh” Conan O’Brien was “blowing
verbal kisses at the president.” (2) This is an example of our current swooning
media that fails to report the truth of the failures of the economic policies of
this administration while promoting this administration’s agenda even when it
is not working.
Mr. Shapiro went on to say that these correspondents were
having this lavish swooning gala while “90 million Americans remain outside the
workforce and 47 million remain on foodstamps” (2) . In fact, we learned this week that 1 out of
every five families is currently on foodstamps (3) and many of the 90 million that have dropped
out of the workforce are receiving disability checks from the government. (4)
Instead of holding a gala correspondents dinner these
members of the media should be spending time doing their research and reporting
that this administration’s economic policies have been a dismal failure. The main reason the budget is running
trillion dollar deficits every year is because of these failed economic
policies that are failing to provide good paying jobs for those currently out
of work. The only results of a
continuation of these failed policies is unsustainable debt or more
quantitative easing which will eventually lead to inflation, perhaps
hyper-inflation.
Sarah Palin said it well when she said on her twitter
account "DC assclowns" were
throwing "themselves a #nerdprom" while "the rest of America is
out there working our assess off." (5)
Media, do your job, report the truth about this
administration’s policies, and stop sucking up to this administration. If you do, I can assure you your ratings will
skyrocket and begin having the respect of your viewers, listeners, and
readers.
