Welcome to The Political Avenger

Hello everyone, welcome to The Political Avenger blog.  I am not a politician and have never run for office.  What I am is a citizen who is extremely concerned with the direction our country is taking.  For example, close to 50 percent of people in the United States now receive some sort of government subsistence.  Many of these people also pay no income tax and even receive refundable tax credits each year.
I am a tax preparer so let me take a moment to explain what a refundable tax credit is.  A non-refundable tax credit allows one to reduce their tax liability but once their tax liability reaches zero, they do not receive any additional credit.  This is not the case with a refundable tax credit for it entitles them to receive the rest of the credit as a refund on their 1040.
The current tax laws entitle a person to a $1000 refundable child tax credit for each child and a refundable  earned income tax credit based on their income and number of children they claim.  Certain taxpayers, and I use that term loosely, can receive as much as $8000 in tax refunds even though they have zero tax liability.
With this voting block approaching 50 percent, we find ourselves in a situation where these people may out vote those of us who actually have a tax liability each year.  If this were to occurs, this voting block will be able to vote themselves a raise by voting for politicians running on a platform of tax increases on the rich that will increase the amount of the entitlements and credits they receive.   In fact, this is actually occurring in many parts of our country statewide, hence eternally blue states like California and New York.  This is an example of some of the topics we will be discussing on this blog.
The Political Avenger blog is designed to discuss topics like this and arrive at the truth.  Other than what you just read in this blog, you may have never had refundable tax credits explained to you.  Politicians are aware of how these credits work but conveniently hide the truth so they can use them to stay in office.  The Bible says in John 8:32 “And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."  (NLT)  My hope is that we can arrive at the truth of the issues facing our nation and then we will be free to vote for politicians who support the truth without falling prey to their political spin.
Some simple rules:
·                     No personal attacks - Just because someone disagrees with you or me does not give us a reason to personally attack him or her.  Once we arrive at the truth behind an issue, if their opinion or ours is wrong, it will become evident.  Any posting that is a personal attack will be promptly removed
·                     No cursing or foul language - This blog is open to anyone and there may be children reading so we must be respectful of them.  If someone must resort to cursing or foul language to get their point across, their position is probably weak.
·                     No selling products or promoting someone for political office - The mission of this blog is to discover the truth behind the issues.  It is then up to each individual to assess politicians running for office against this truth and vote for the most truthful candidate.
I plan to post weekly on Saturdays and more frequently if necessary.  I can also be followed on Twitter at @polavenger and on Facebook at www.facebook.com/polavenger.com
I look forward to meeting many of you through these mediums and doing our part to bring about a change in the direction our nation is currently on.  Look at what is happening in Greece today.  We do not want to see that happen in the United States and we have an opportunity to insure it does not.
