Gen 2:6-7
7 And the LORD God formed a man's body from
the dust of the ground and breathed into it the breath of life. And the man
became a living person.
NLT
Of all of God’s creation, man is the only one into which He
breathed the breath of life. God places
a high value on life and the Bible tells us in Psalm 139:13-16 that
Psalm 139:13-16
13 You made all the
delicate, inner parts of my body
and knit me together
in my mother's womb.
14 Thank you for
making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is
marvelous — and how well I know it.
15 You watched me as
I was being formed in utter seclusion,
as I was woven
together in the dark of the womb.
16 You saw me before
I was born.
Every day of my life
was recorded in your book.
Every moment was laid
out
before a single day
had passed.
NLT
God was even watching over us while we were being formed in
our mother’s womb. I find it amazing
that God, the creator of the universe was watching and forming me even before I
was born. Then if that wasn’t amazing
enough, even after Adam sinned, God loved mankind so much that he sent his Son
to suffer death for us so we could have eternal life (John 3:16).
Unfortunately, many in our society today do not share the
same high value of life that God the Creator has. Just this week a woman broadcast her
abortion. Normally I provide a reference
so everyone can check out the source.
However, I find the broadcasting of murder deplorable and for that reason,
I am not going to provide the link.
In the U.S. Declaration of Independence, the founders listed
three inalienable rights they believed were granted to each individual by
God. Among these inalienable rights, was
the right to life. The founders
understood that the preservation of the right to life was crucial to the
sustainability of any society. Without a
high regard for life, society can quickly degrade into total anarchy as individuals
become obsessed with their own survival.
Satan’s purpose is the antithesis of God’s purpose for
mankind for his purpose is to kill steal and destroy (John 10:10). In our society today, we see Satan at work
doing everything he can to devalue life in our society. Satan devalues life by:
1)
Teaching evolution as opposed to creation in
schools. To believe in evolution is to
demean life to some accidental coincidental freak of nature. What value is life if we are just some
accident of nature as opposed to the high value God our creator placed on life
by breathing life into mankind and even sending his only Son to die and redeem
fallen man.
2)
Promoting abortion. In our overly sexed society, abortion is seen
as a way for a woman to rid herself of the unwanted result of sex, a baby. Its supporters tout abortion as a woman’s
right and anyone daring to oppose it is seen as waging a war on women. However, what about the child, the child that
God was forming in the woman’s womb, the child that He was watching over. Thankfully, with God watching over every aborted
child, these aborted children have a place in heaven with the Lord.
3)
Even laws like Obamacare are a threat to life
for it places a government official in a position to decide whether someone
gets healthcare. All men and women have
sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23) and thus should not
be in a position to decide who lives or dies.
The decision of when an individual dies is best when left in the hands
of the Creator.
The sustainability of any civil society lies in how high a
value it places on life. Our modern
society is going down the road of devaluing life and unless we change
direction, our society will devolve into total anarchy. However, it is not too late for us to change
direction. I therefore encourage
everyone to vote for candidates for office holding a high value for life.
Vote for candidates supporting the right to life of the
unborn. If God holds them in high esteem,
shouldn’t we. Remember that we are more
than some primordial slime that somehow evolved into complex life as we see it
today. Vote for candidates that support
the right of each individual to make critical healthcare decisions and not some
government official. Will you join me in
support of such candidates?
